چکیده
This paper introduces new composite architectures using carbon and glass fibre-reinforced epoxy prepregs to achieve gradual failure under bending. The concept is based on a technique developed by the authors design hybrid composites with in tension combined beam theory identify control sequence of plies layups. Two layups are designed standard ply thickness S-Glass sub-laminates made out intermediate high modulus thin-ply prepregs. tested 4-point bending loading where alongside values flexural displacement achieved. No catastrophic observed throughout whole process. layer-by-layer surface layers tensile side produces brush-like appearance. Microscopy observations from interrupted tests verified fragmentation high-modulus layer followed delamination side, as well stable shear cracks compression side.

متن کاملInvestigation of Mode I Delamination Resistance in Inter-ply and Intra-ply Hybrid Composites Reinforced with Basalt/Nylon Woven Fabrics
Due to their sensitivity to impact-induced delamination, woven fabric reinforced polymer composites have limited practical applications. Hybridization of polymer composites has been proposed as a solution to this problem. In this study, the effects of fiber reinforcement type, hybridization method, plies stacking sequence and loading rate on mode I delamination behavior of pure basalt, pure nyl...
متن کاملFailure Behavior of Unidirectional Composites under Compression Loading: Effect of Fiber Waviness
The key objective of this work is to highlight the effect of manufacturing-induced fiber waviness defects on the compressive failure of glass fiber-reinforced unidirectional specimens. For this purpose, in-plane, through-thickness waviness defects (with different waviness severities) are induced during the manufacturing of the laminate. Numerical and experimental results show that the compressi...
